Description
An Irish tradition - whole wheat scones. Best served up with jam and butter.
Ingredients
250 g
wholemeal flour 4 t
baking powder 4 t
Sugar 1⁄4 t
Salt 50 g
Butter (softened) 150 ml
milk 1
egg (beaten)Instructions
- Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and butter.
- Add milk and bring together into a dough.
- Leave dough to rest for 15 minutes.
- Turn dough out onto floured surface and gently press to 3cm/1" thick.
- Cut out scone shapes and place on a floured baking sheet.
- Brush scone tops with beaten egg.
- Bake at 220°C/425ºF/Gas 8 for 10-12 minutes.
