American Thanksgiving Update

Maya & Me, 27 Nov 2009

Had a fantastic American Thanksgiving with the friends in Newburyport.  Maya travelled up with us for the night and semi-met/traumatized Jack and Stewart, Lisa's black cats.  The dinner was fantastic and I tried sweet potatoes for the first time.  Of note is Susan's gravy & french beans, Steph's french salad, Jake's fabulous wine, Trevor's perfect pumpkin pie, and Lisa & Julien's gorgeous and moist turkey.  I contributed the usual lemon squares and brownies, feeling a bit intimidated to finally be having the REAL thing (not that our thanksgivings in Toronto have been fake, but they're definitely with an Sri Lankan twist!).

This morning we entertained our neighbors for a breakfast of crepes.  Have been lent a small guitar for my practising pleasure and I think Richie will be happy to know I haven't lost anything yet.

The other new news is that I've found a choir to check out in Somerville - fingers crossed!

Highlights and then some...

A night with werewolves & a daytrip to Newburyport!

It rained for two days straight.  My birthday came and went and we celebrated by going for Japanese with Lin Clark who is now taken up position in Galway as a replacement for Steph.  Nothing much to report and so no major blog entries.

We had a few friends over for a game of Werewolves - Oshani, Mithushi, Varuni, & Rukshan.  I made a pumpking curry for the first time - and learnt how to make watalappan as well.  More pictures are on flickr

On Sunday we went up to Newburyport to visit Lisa Rex and had an amazing late lunch at the Starboard Galley restaurant (two thumbs up!).

Only other thing of interest is I'm finally caught up with Heroes (thanks to Netflix).  Being a full time stay at home wife takes a LOT of work... ;)  Well, at least to keep myself occupied so I don't gnaw through my foot!  Time seems to pass quickly.

I will be putting in some time to my 'recipe' page on my website - to my fans: please remind me if there are any culinary delights you'd like to see up there!
