Smelly dog gets flea shampoo

It's been awhile since the pooch has had a tub bath... considering how warm it is outside - we might do it outside.  She doesn't know what's coming yet!  But I think overall she enjoys getting a bath and the clean feeling afterwards.

Last night made up some vegetables with garden grown herbs.... it was 'ok'.  Think I need to come up with a few more recipes!

Happy May 1st!

Is your dog smart.. or too smart?

Maya collared

I know the last post was "How dirty is your dog?" but I didn't expect Maya to take it literally and personally!  She's just after eating 2/3 of a bar of Dove soap.  I didn't catch her because I thought she was chewing on her kong.

She's not as bad as she used to be - at least the furniture is still intact.  But I suppose it's the labrador in her that is constantly hungry.  Do dog treats come in soap flavour?

How dirty is your dog?

Maya Romp

Two nights, three guests, and one dirty dog.  Had the pleasure of meeting and dining with Lin Clark, Steph's future replacement at DERI.  Last night entertained some French friends visiting from Paris and so this morning was a nice affair with American style pancakes and maple syrup.  Once everyone left it was time to clean the house.  Floors mopped, doggie beds and assorted accessories thrown in the washing machine - the doggie herself was carried and promptly dumped in the tub for a royal scrubbing.

And was she dirty!  I never imagined so much muddy water would come off her in one go and that's having given her a bath every week or two since we got her!  I had to shampoo her twice before she was squeeky clean and ready to go romp around the house.  (Shaking by a Lab-Pointer results in way less fur and water than that done by a Husky-German Sheppard).  She's currently sunning herself while I get on with my day.

We finally have cable!  Tired of our miserable T-Mobile Webconnect usb key and its terribly slow service, we've finally hooked into the unlimited high-speed internet.  TV wasn't all I hoped it would be, but that said, something is always or generally better than nothing!  Now if only I knew when my favourite shows were on!

As for Nanowrimo... I'm up to 2,761 words as of last night.  Hoping to spend the most part of the afternoon writing away.

And like a storm.. they were gone!

Maya I

The parental units were down this weekend for an incredible first Thanksgiving weekend at our new home in Medford.  We had a few eventful days!  For one, we are now the proud owners of our very own TV!  Doesn't seem like a big deal - but to go from a 17" old box set in Ireland - to a large sized flat screen (with better resolution than my computer screen), is a big deal!  We also obtained countless minor necessities from the likes of Ikea, Kmart, & Sears.  I have a rice cooker again! The house is back to being quiet and empty except for Maya and me...

That reminds me - I can finally announce to the world - that WE HAVE A DOG!!! We adopted Maya (a Pointer Labrador who incidentally originates from Peurto Rico) about the time when we moved into the house.  I told my whole family that we'd gotten ourselves a 'giant cat'!  Which I'd been saying for months before.  She is a bit of a 'giant cat' in that she sleeps most of the time while indoors - though is incredibly dog-like when outdoors.  I loved the reaction of my mum when she walked over to the closed crate to apprehensively see the 'giant beast'.  When the news was accidentally spilled to my older sister in London, my younger sister did damage control by sending a picture of the fattest cat imaginable.  If you haven't realised yet , yes - my family are all dog people (I'm the only one who 'to their horror' walks the line in between).
