Thoughts on K-man turning One...

on Wednesday, 11th January 2012 - 10:24

Another day passed and overnight, he's sounding more and more like a little child and less and less like a baby.

Things that have changed?  Drinking less milk, eating more food, a personality definitely shaping the the way he chooses what to eat and what to do with what he doesn't want to eat.  A curious little monkey always trying to climb higher and see what's next.  My heart melts whenever he toddles over to his bookshelf and helps himself to a book.  Last night he was trying to tear a CD out of one.  I saved the book in the nick of time.  Sitting by himself and going through a picture book - is this what is yet to come?

At night time, the ritual remains more or less the same.  I tried reading him a Dr. Seuss book last night "One Fish, Two Fish..." and after about six pages he had decided I had read enough and promptly closed the book and reached for his milk bottle.  He recognizes the absence of Amma and the presence of Amma more and more.  Waking up in the middle of the night from a nightmare and he's comforted the moment he sees me.  I don't have to hold him for very long before he's ready to be put back in the crib.  He really is an independent soul but like his Papa with his wife, he is completely dependent on his Amma.
